One day, you may open your door to find the unexpected role of caregiver sitting on your step.  One in every eight adults between ages 40 to 60 finds themselves raising children and caring for a parent.  This day may be on your future horizon or your current situation.  Just like parenting your growing children, there is no real instruction manual how best to care for an aging parent.

As a critical care nurse, I watched and was inspired by many of these adults taking care of their parents.  I also became acutely aware of how much "stuff" health care facilities, medical offices, insurance companies, and staff put on their shoulders to get their parent moved to the next level of care or home.  I was one of them.

Then, in 2015, I began to develop a model to coordinate care for individuals over 65.  I would help one family, then the next until I realized this information needed to be in the hands of adult caregivers.  Health Planner serves as both a free resource for families as well as a company ready to tackle coordinating senior care.  Contact us for a free consultation how we can help.  Visit the blog to access our free online publications how to coordinate care for your parent.  We make it our business to find the emerging best practices for aging at home independently and safe transitions.

None of this information would have been possible without hearing from those who care for an aging parent.  Please comment on publications you read or send Health Planner your questions and stories. The more we all talk about what it is like to age in the American health system the quicker we can identify the needs and solutions.

The mission of Health Planner is finding the solutions needed to keep aging parents safely home as long as possible.
