Frequently Asked Questions

Aging comes with a lot of questions. We hope we can answer some of yours here.

+ WHAT IS KAYBEE COMMUNITY?

KayBee is a nurse owned organization passionate about helping seniors through care coordination. Care coordination ensures every therapy, service, and doctor is aligned and working together toward goals of aging. With a growning number of medications and specialized doctors, senior care can often become overwhelming. Partnering with KayBee on a plan to age helps KayBee nurses advocate and navigate you through the health system and community resources.

+ MY FATHER HAS ALZHEIMER'S; CAN YOU HELP CARE FOR SENIORS WITH MEMORY IMPAIRMENT?

Yes! Seniors who have a diagnosed dementia face many complex needs related to medical appointments, medications, therapies and sometimes caregiving. Care coordination by a nurse can help! KayBee can also identify additional resources to support indpendence and make recommendations. (If you're looking for more resources and support, we encourage you to attend an upcoming Dementia Friends session. Find more information here .)

+ MY MOTHER LIVES OUTSIDE OF INDIANAPOLIS. CAN I STILL SCHEDULE YOU TO HELP HER?

KayBee started in Hamilton County, Indiana. Currently, KayBee covers Indianapolis and the surrounding suburbs. Contact KayBee with more details, and we will see how we can help!

+ DOES KAYBEE ACCEPT ANY FORM OF INSURANCE?

In the future, KayBee hopes to begin advocating for insurance coverage of care coordination; we believe it has a pivotal role in the future of health care. However, at this time, our services are private pay only, cash, check, and credit cards accepted.

+ HOW WILL YOU UPDATE ME AFTER DOCTOR APPOINTMENTS OR HOME VISITS?

Communicication is key in healthcare! KayBee Community will base communication on your unique preferences. We can communicate through text, email, private chat room, or by phone and as often or as little as you like. We also create a shareable calendar to track all medical appointments.

+ HOW FAR IN ADVANCE DO I NEED TO SCHEDULE SERVICES?

KayBee has learned with seniors life is not always predictable. Contact KayBee to see if a KayBee nurse is available to begin today.

+ DO YOU PROVIDE HOME CARE SERVICES?

While KayBee has Nurse Care Coordinators, we are not a licensed home care agency so cannot provide direct patient care. However, our nurses make it their job to know the home care agencies in your area to best serve your needs and quickly coordinate and connect you to needed help.

+ MY PARENT HAS A PRIMARY CARE DOCTOR. WHY DO THEY NEED KAYBEE?

Seniors in the United States are living longer than ever, and so our health care system has had to accommodate the largest influx of seniors in history. With this increase of care, doctors and pharmacists are quickly becoming overburdened. Doctors only have 15 to 30 minutes with seniors, often every six months. They rely on family members and caregivers for transportation, communication with other health providers, management of medication changes, and implementing a skilled nursing plan at home. KayBee provides families with an option to hire passionate nurses who are knowledgeable about senior care, and who enjoy coordinating the big picture of a senior's health.

+ MY GRANDMA LIVES IN ASSISTED LIVING, WHY WOULD WE NEED A KAYBEE NURSE?

Assisted Living facilities vary, depending on their licensure, on what they can do. The biggest benefits a KayBee nurse provides is coordinating medical appointments and transportation with the facility, and acting as a local touch point for the nurses and aides at the facility, as changes in health occur. For out-of-state families, KayBee becomes their eyes and ears to prevent problems turning into crisis.

+ DO YOU WORK WITH SENIORS IN SKILLED NURSING FACILITIES AND REHABILITATION?

Yes. KayBee knows the great benefit in having a familiar face regularly visiting a senior in a nursing home or rehab facility. We can help ensure the care at the facility is aligned with your loved one's health goals. We can also facilitate a smooth transition to home once the time comes.

+ DO YOU DRIVE MY PARENT TO THEIR APPOINTMENT?

KayBee nurses are not insured to drive clients to appointments. However, with thier expert knowledge of transportation resources KayBee nurses do coordinate transportation to and from appointments. A KayBee nurse can then meet the client at the appointment for assistance with checking in and detailed note taking while with the physician.

+ ARE THERE OTHER CAREGIVER SUPPORT RESOURCES I CAN TAKE ADVANTAGE OF?

Yes! KayBee keeps a running list of support groups and self-care resources to make sure caregivers are supported. The monthly subscription to KayBee Community can free up time and reduce stress of caregivers by assisting with care coordination. One helpful resource in Indiana that KayBee highly recommends is the CICOA Aging and In-Home Solutions CAREAWARE program.
